| This demo park will attempt to re-enact the lifestyle of these agricultural folk as they lived a 100 years ago, as well as the traditions and customs of the time.
Among the many exhibits on display (old household and agricultural tools), there will also be activities taking place that are eco-friendly, such as ceramics, traditional hand weaving, ethereal oils extracted from herbs, honey- candle- and soap-making, and wood carvings, all of which can be observed in action and which will also be for sale. These activities will take place within some individual and specially-erected, rustic-style little buildings on the grounds, in amongst the natural green landscape. They will be run by various inhabitants of the village, each of whom is an expert in a specific traditional trade or skill. The nature park will also feature a rich variety of flora and fauna, indigenous to the island. A small number of aged farm animals will also be lodged at the park.
We trust that this local development project will inspire our nation and force the government to start taking green development very seriously and make them finally understand that they are obliged to co-operate and assist in the sincere attempts of the local people, who are trying to survive under these difficult economic circumstances, to uplift their area. In this endeavour, we also welcome the input or personal labour of anyone abroad that shares our experiences with under-developed areas. Their assistance will contribute a great deal in helping our project to get up to its feet. Our volunteers will hopefully be people who respect nature and who see green development as the future. We are prepared to offer free food and lodgings in the area.
In an effort to guarantee that this idea reached a wider “audience” we felt that it needed publicizing beyond the borders of Greece, and in order to achieve our goal, we decided that the best way of doing this was by producing a short documentary describing the project and the purpose behind it. In this way, we would ensure that as many people abroad as possible got to see it – for instance, exposure at a film festival would be ideal – with the intention being that people should be informed of the project.
In this quest, we would like to request the assistance of a professional film maker, who will give us his advice on producing a short documentary on our venture, or perhaps even offering us his personal participation in the production. We thank you and appreciate any assistance that will be forthcoming.
